This blog is all about my first book,
Mr. Darcy Takes the Plunge.
(Publisher: Rhemalda Publishing)
The launch date is November 1, 2010.
Bio: ~ J. Marie Croft ~
I have been a Nova Scotia resident and an avid reader all my life. I discovered Jane Austen’s works later than others but made up for lost time by devouring her six novels and as many adaptations, sequels, and fan-fiction stories as I could find. In the midst of all that reading, I realized, ‘Hey, I can do that!’. The rest, as they say, is history … her-story … my story … whatever.
Day job: ~ Coordinator at Music School ~
Unfortunately, I am neither coordinated nor can I play an instrument nor carry a tune. I can, however, carry an instrument and play iTunes … not that it matters. I’m just saying.
Hobby: ~ Geocaching ~
Speaking of coordinates (the latitude and longitude kind), my hobby is Geocaching. The official website describes it this way: “Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with a GPS device. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experience online. Geoaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.” Other than the GPS unit, all that’s required is a love of nature, a compass (and the ability to use it), spare batteries, a pair of sturdy hiking boots, water, insect repellent, and the patience to wander around in circles in the woods while getting frustrated, scratched, bug bitten, and sweaty … with apologies to my dear, departed mother, who always said, “Ladies don’t sweat. They perspire.”
Passion: ~ Writing ~
While I like my day job and thoroughly enjoy my hobby, my passion is stringing words together and listening to the voices in my head. I usually allow them some latitude; however, I flatly refuse to allow them any longitude. Sometimes I dearly wish those characters would just get lost! Oh, wait. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet do become lost in my book, Mr. Darcy Takes the Plunge.

This looks awesome!! Can’t wait for the book!
Hello J. Marie,
I apologize for contacting you in this way, but was unsure how to reach you. Your name was passed to me by Mary Simonsen and I am so glad she did! I am a Jane Austen author and together with Abigail Reynolds and now a growing list of 14 other Austen-genre published authors we are starting a group blog. We plan to go-live on Sept. 6, but are still on the search for other authors who write and are published in the genre. If this is an idea you are interested in, please feel free to contact me. You can also check out the blog at http://www.austenauthors.com. It is a WIP as we prepare for our massive launch, but it is coming along nicely! Even if you are uninterested or too busy to be a regular part of our group, we would love to have you as a guest.
I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Sharon Lathan
